The Paralympic Games are slowly coming to an end, and what an exciting watch it has been. I would love to know if you have any favourite sporting moments? I have been in awe of some of the power lifting, but, my favourite sport to watch this year I think was the badminton!
Let's dive into this weeks content....
The datavist has an interesting take on looking at the brisbane lions performance averages across finals against the regular season. I find the additional context of number of finals played important to this visual. I wonder what the story is behind Dayne Zorko's drop of 3.4 points.
Sarah highlights really how difficult it is to join the 40-40 club of 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases. Only 0.03% of players make it! Ohtani joining the club for sooner than the rest taking only 126 games. A wonderfully presented visual with color highlighting to match the story.
Alex Varlamov treats us to some F1 visuals this week. A small multiples chart looking at performance of the different teams by number of points. Very interesting when it comes to look at the leaders, that tend to stay for a number of years. Are we seeing the return of Ferrari?
Dan Wade continues the F1 streak, looking at the number of finishers in each race in 2024.
The chart style calling out the collision of 4 in the Monaco Grand Prix, as well as the least finishers of 15 in the Canadian Grand Prix just after.
Emlyn showcases AFL data through polygon slices for goals. I love the score overlays!
Adam continues the blue streaks throughout August. Looks like he is more on track to complete the 1000km. Have a look at Adams viz and have a guess what date he will pass the milestone....
This week I wrote a blog extension on plotting past vs current metrics. The workbook is designed in a way to be progressive, so I'm hoping it helps other create radial charts too.
Finally,
we are back with our video round ups of some of our favourite visuals from each month. You can check out what we loved in the community from August below.
Take care,
CJ & the #SportsVizSunday team
