Hello fellow #SportsVizSunday'ers. We're deep into Wimbledon this week and the opening matches have already seen some very enjoyable tennis. I think Wimbledon is my favourite of the major tennis championships. The pace of the grass surface lends itself to fast proactive games, and I'm a sucker for serve and volley tactics too.
Another small roundup this week but there's some interesting community events coming up which are worth sharing on their own, plus a couple of great vizzes and features.
Starting this week is Jay Binning's pre-match dashboard for performance analysts in football. This dashboard is designed to break down how clubs in the Championship play so that you can be better equiped to defeat them! There's lots of really insightful information here, and I like how Jay has combined it with background images (I'm assuming!) to keep the football context too. The stats by time segment caught my eye as that's something I've been thinking about for football analysis too.

Bo McCready (IronViz 2025 Champion) needs no introduction so I'll just leave this here. Also there's very little I can say with words. It's majestic. I want to be more Bo.
Sekou Tyler has been diving into the Tableau MCP server on LinkedIn to help him with some preliminary analysis of the LA Lakers. I must admit that I didn't know what this was before reading his post - and I'm not entirely sure I know now - but it does look like a really helpful tool!
Onto the first of the community sports things. For anyone based in London, I'll be speaking at London TUG next week talking about what I've learned about having impact with data from working in elite sport (there's two other awesome speakers too but they won't be speaking about sport as far as I know).
Next up, myself and CJ rounded up our favourite #SportsVizSunday visualisations from June. Check it out now over here!
And finally, the Sports TUG summer bonanza has been announced for July 31st! We will be featuring four fantastic creators talking about how their visualisations. The cast of speakers is pretty epic and there are two IronViz wins among a veritable pile of sensational visualisations. Definitely not to be missed.
And that'll be it for this week. Now back to the tennis...
