The NFL 25/26 season kicked off this week and there have already been some incredibly close games and impressive feats of athleticism. Combined with the US Open - of which the men’s singles final is still going on - it’s been a good week for enjoying sport.
Pleasingly for the first week of the NFL season, Jeff Platner brings us an NFL viz! Using a combination of icons, bars and colours, Jeff takes us through the history of each franchise from their creation through to the present day. I found it interesting to look up some of the teams who have been successful in the ~10 years or so I’ve been watching, as some of them have a very different history to their current position!
Next up and Jordan Alfano has been growing her Tableau skills diving into NHL salaries. There’s a good range of metrics on show here which combine to create a good picture of how salary and points are connected, and which teams are dominating spending. I always think a hallmark of a good dashboard is whether the reader wants to go away and look up some more info off their own back, and that is certainly how I feel!
As I write this, Sinner & Alcaraz are contesting the men’s US Open final. I remember seeing a great highlight table from Lev Akabas about entering the Alcaraz era, and I wondered if there was one about Sinner & Alcaraz together because one of my takeaways was that they had formed a duopoly. Step forward Ben Rothenberg, who has created a highlight table showing that we are well established in the Sinner & Alcaraz era.
Sticking with the tennis, Gerald Lim is showing the depth of analysis that can be achieved with modern data recording. Looking at serve placement and rally results, he deconstructs some strengths and weaknesses of Alcaraz & Djokovic’s serves.
Last but not least, if you’re after some more fantastic sports content then check out the Sports Tableau User Group, being held online on Thurs 11th September. We’ve got two fantastic speakers lined up, and I’ve no doubt there will be a heap of things to learn!
And that’s it for this week! Stay tuned for our next Best of the Month video, and keeeeeeeep vizzing!

I enjoyed the mix of topics in this roundup, especially the mention of Jeff Platner’s NFL visualization that traces each franchise’s history using icons, bars, and colors—it’s a clever way to reflect how some teams’ long-term histories differ from what newer fans might expect. The section discussing the “Sinner & Alcaraz era” and the idea of a modern tennis duopoly was also interesting, particularly with the US Open final happening at the same time. Gerald Lim’s analysis of serve placement and rally outcomes for Alcaraz and Djokovic sounded like the kind of deep data breakdown that makes sports analytics fascinating. As someone who occasionally ends up reading about things like Online Economics Assignment Help in Australia while studying analytics topics,…
As a PhD student balancing research and a part-time role at Last Minute Assignments, I enjoyed reading this Weekly Roundup. It reminded me of my college days when deadlines and expectations felt overwhelming. That experience is why I now try to guide students facing similar pressure. Sometimes they quietly search things like Pay someone to Write My Assignment not from laziness but stress. Posts like this encourage reflection on balance, discipline, and support in academic life today for many students. Nice Post
Looking at these weekly roundups always reminds me of the intense data tracking I had to do for my own postgraduate research last summer. I remember feeling completely buried under my findings until I collaborated with uk academic editors to help me organize my narrative and clarify my results. It is amazing how much more impact your work has when it finally receives that professional level of structural refinement.
This roundup was well organized and easy to follow. The way you summarized key moments and trends made it a quick yet informative read. I recently saw a similar approach on a review blog connected with https://www.sherwaytrilliumdental.ca/, where concise updates helped keep readers informed without losing important context. A solid weekly snapshot that’s both engaging and useful.
