Happy Sunday everyone! Today is a big sports day, I'm sure you are all wondering if Jordan Spieth will win the WM Phoenix Open? Oh and I am sure you're getting ready for that little American football game happening later today.
Here's the weekly round up of the sports visualizations that caught my eye.
Tom Smith @tSmithyyy created this interesting analysis on the Great Britain's cost per medal for the Summer Olympic. This is nicely designed and the text explanations are well done.
peter @peter_plots used our February challenge data to look at dead cap spend in 2020 and whether or not the team made the playoffs.
Daniel Ling @DanielLing13 consistently creates well designed and insightful visualizations and this viz on the prize money between the PGA & LPGA tours is a great example. Thanks for using the December challenge data set and illustrating the gap between the tours.
I never get tired of seeing what Samuel Epley @EpleySamuel creates. Every week Sam creates amazing visualizations. This week we were treated with this visualization that simulates 50,000 match ups in SuperBowl LV. This is mind-blowing.
Gorazd Surla @GorazdSurla is a regular SVS participant and I enjoyed going through this Men's World Championship Handball visualization. Nice to see our community members learning new techniques from others in the community and applying them.
Christina Wiech @ChristinaWiech created this visualization that showed the frequency of the The National Women’s Hockey League. Thanks for promoting the NWHL!
Alex Hirst @AlexHirstData created this great visualization on footballer Pedro Neto. This viz is engaging and I enjoyed learning about Pedro.
I love this visualization from Travis Blanton @Taako_Tuesday on disc golfer Paige Pierce's quest for a 1000 rating . Hope we see more disc golf visualizations from you Travis, I don't know much about the sport and would love to learn more. The night mode switch is awesome. Great work!
And last but not least we have Bᴜʀɴʟᴇʏsᴛᴀᴛs | Dave Roberts @DLRbrts Proportion Plot that shows home and away results for every Burnley FC match. Nice application of a new technique!
Hope everyone has a great week and looking forward to seeing some visualizations with the February NFL Draft & Salary Cap data.
