Weekly Round-Up 05.09.2021
To start, we wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day from the #SportsVizSunday team! Let's get started and make this one a quick one so you can spend more time with your loved ones.
We'd like to sincerely thank all of you who contributed to April's lacrosse challenge, we got some amazing submissions last month. It was interesting to see because it's a sport that would certainly be considered less mainstream than sports like basketball or baseball, but there was a ton of participation. Check out Kate's monthly wrap-up for all of the submissions!
For the month of May, our challenge data consists of horse racing data! Make sure to head over to data.world and check out the data. You can find Simon's challenge write-up below!
Let's dive into some of the visualizations that caught our eye this week. This viz by Jeff Komen has a couple of really neat features in it including the tabular view. Really cool way to look at your Fantasy Premier League data!
Michael Dunphy's viz on the Paralympics is super cool. Make sure to click through all the different options to see the whole story unfold. Good stuff, Michael!
Great F1 analysis from Steph Blair exploring how important team's pit stop strategies are. Take a look!
This is a really eye-catching visualization from Daniel Sedin. You can find the link here to explore the attributes of different NBA playmakers. Oh, and nice Parameter formatting trick!
I love seeing stories like this involving the #SportsVizSunday community and the #datafam in general. This is why we do this stuff! To help people like Yash get started, grow, and shine in this field. We owe a big thanks to YOU all for making this community great.
Have a great Mother's Day and we'll see you all next week!
