Introducing our February Challenge

Hi All,

For our second challenge of the year we are focusing on the Winter Olympics. The Winter Olympics are being held in Beijing this year and will run from the 4th Feb to the 20th!

A whole range of sport disciplines are lined up this year to get excited about. Be sure to check out more details around the sports, athletes, records and medals within the official website, here.

Amongst the different disciplines some stand out events could be Sui Wenjing and Han Cong go for Gold this year in Figure Skating this year having missed out by 0.43 points in the previous Olympics.

Whilst, British Snowboarder Katie Ormerod takes part this year having become the first female to land a double cork 1080, 8 years ago.

Whatever the outcome, the winter olympics is not one to be missed!

DATASET AVAILABLE

Christian Felix helped provide the datasets for this months challenge. Please also look to tag him in your creations alongside using the hashtag #SportsVizSunday so our team see it! We are super excited to see what you come up with.

We have two datasets to hand for this months challenge.

The first is Olympics Women Hockey data from 2018. It is an action packed game level dataset with shot co-ordinate data! You can check out more about Ice Hockey here.

The second dataset is on Luge. This dataset includes results from both 2014 and 2018. Lugers compete against a timer in one of the most precisely timed sports in the world—going as accurate as to the thousandth of a second! To learn more about Luge, check out this site here.
